What and Why?

Sometimes it isn’t clear what needs to be done to deliver the vision and outcomes you want. Design is about co-producing the ideas, concepts, specifications, models, or prototypes of what needs to be delivered.

• What can we learn from others, what can we build on that is already delivering what matters?

• What do we need to improve, change, or stop to make a breakthrough?

• What does that new process, project, product or service look like – what are the tools and components we need to design and build to get results, now?

 

Who benefits from what we do?

Cities, companies, or teams that need to:

• Developing a new product or service to build or maintain a competitive advantage and want to be assured of the approach or features.

• Engage communities and people at the front line – because they know what needs to be done.

• Build on existing success, but don’t know how to start.

• Develop new models of delivery, governance and accountability but remain flexible and responsive to new opportunities and uncertainties

 

Where have we done this before? Examples include:

• Designing and commissioning a spatial masterplan and skills and training strategy for South Yorkshire Innovation District

• Developing value propositions for 2 micromobility projects in the UK with the Connected Places Catapult and regional partners.

• Service reviews in a range of public sector settings including, highways, children services and rail.
